Hi all,
Now I am not sure if this is a dead thread. It has been a horrendous day setting up my EE WiFi with extender problems etc
My Laptop is old 2016, but currently running on Windows System: Windows 11 Home. I refuse to replace my laptop, because it works fine and maybe one day we will share a drink if it survives 8 more years (fingers crossed).
But, I had the same issue that my laptop was unable to see my EE WiFi connection, but could see everybody's down the street.
Route cause: Network Adapters "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless - AC 7265" latest drives did not support the fancy new WiFi connection.
Fix: Within Device Manager, rolled back my Network Adapter driver to previous version and it worked.
Steps
Hope the above helps, maybe it is called windows, because the amount you need to go through to do anything. Wish me luck, going to try connect my printer to the EE WiFi.
In addition, Microsoft next time you do a systems upgrade, please get someone who uses a computer to design the UX. Simple is best to navigate (KISS).
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Useful info that will hopefully help somebody 🙂
Worth noting that the reverse can sometimes be the case with these cards too i.e. they can't see WiFi 6/AX networks until the driver is upgraded. Plenty of evidence out there on the Internet, e.g. here.
