Problems with EE app etc

AlHe6
Explorer

Just been transferred from Plus Net to EE.

Some newer devices working OK, but older devices

give error message when trying to connect

"unable to connect to network".

Also in the EE app when i try to "connect app to hub"

I get message "No WiFi network found"

touching "select different wifi network" makes no difference.

In my device settings there's EE-xx-nxxn which works, and "EE wifi" which on some devices opens a website where I can log in, but that is unsecured.

What devices are struggling to connect? Is there anything non-standard/default about your home network and are you using any VPN software/Apple Private Relay, or anything like that?

Don't use the EE WiFi network; that is a public WiFi network that's not intended for use in your home.

Some devices might require that you enable the Compatible WiFi network and connect them to that.

Sometimes older or weaker devices may not be compatible with the default WiFi settings of EE Smart Hubs. Try setting up Compatible WiFi on the router under Advanced > Wireless Settings > Config > Compatible WiFi (it defaults to 2.4 GHz only & WPA2) & connect your problematic 2.4 GHz devices to that.

The "EE WiFi" network is EE's public WiFi network that anyone can connect to, either by paying or free if they are on EE New BB or BT BB. Your router is broadcasting that unless you opt out of it.

It's in the router itself, not the app. Login to your EE Smart Hub/Router at http://192.168.1.254 with the admin password on the bottom of the slider label on the back of the router.

@AlHe6 As long as your mobile is connected, just forget about the app currently, use a web browser on your mobile and follow as @XRaySpeX has advised above, you may have to https if you have http issues... If you have a PC/Laptop that is Ethernet connected would be the way to go and use. If you are like my son he is only mobile orientated eventually he calls and a i normally just say fire up your gaming computer and use that to connect, duh!
