Openreach installing FTTC when FTTP is available

Hi

I've not gotten round to updating my copper broadband for family health reasons but had Openreach email saying they coming round to update digital phone & putting me on core 67 which is FTTC even though full fibre is on my street. I will receive my smart hub plus & phone adaptor shortly.  

They say i have a fortnight to change mind, not sure what that means as won't be going back to copper but just wondered if FTTC will still work ok after the switch off in January?  I guess they wouldn't be doing it if it didn't. i Should've just ordered FTTP but as said i haven't . I guess i'll get this done & upgrade after.. I didn't think if FF was available on my street they would do FTTC.

There seem to various PBX adapters. This particular 1 is & must be a RJ11 to BT Socket Adapter. In which case the DSL filter on the L is superfluous.

You won't need to change the WiFi network & pwd on your phone if as we previously suggested you 1st change the WiFi SSID & pwd of the SH 6+ to match those of the Brightbox.

@JimM11 : Brightbox is WiFi5 whereas SH 6+ is WiFi6. Much the same as going from BT SH2 to EE SH 6+ as EE often encourages.

Well, I'm using a Brightbox 2 rather than a SH 6+ & it gets all round the house.

@XRaySpeX yes but as said the adsl cable from router doesn't fit in the pbx .. i'm guessing you mean via the router settings page that @JimM11 put up & went over my head as never used them before. It'd probably for me easier to do it manually . I don't know, maybe i'm wrong but it doesn't have to be the same as the bright box does it?

Which side of the green carpet pix leads to the router & which to the phone socket downstairs?

The left part goes to the router, cable is about 4ft long, right side goes downstairs about 7 meters

Then you have the following connections, L to R:

Router > DSL cable ending in RJ11 plug > DSL Filter > Phone cable ending in BT Phone plug > PBX > Phone cable ending in BT Phone plug > Phone splitter downstairs > Phone socket downstairs.

Is that right? If so, the "PBX" is unusual being BT Phone plug to BT Phone extension. I see why both are necessary. The DSL Filter is needed to convert Phone signal into DSL but its phone lead is too short to reach phone socket & so you need the phone extension cable from downstairs to end in a female BT phone socket.

So I don't believe the R-hand thing is a PBX but just a female BT phone socket connector on the end of an extension cable.

Yes that's right., maybe it's been there since dial up I dunno, it had to have come through the floorboards and carpet in 1997 when carpet was fitted.

I thought female socket as ADSL cable goes into it. Your probably correct as I say it's been inline for a long time

Duh! I'm mixing up my genders! A socket is female & a plug is male!

It prob has been there from dial up if it's unrecognisable..Would it have been same cable going in there from old desktop back in day. Probably.

@XRaySpeX  and @JimM11  hi, I'm sorry for posting again but I've been worried that my fttc won't work as upstairs the broadband cable that comes out of router needs to plug into a filter as that is only way it can plug into the cable that comes upstairs

It says as it's a single master socket I'd need to plug filter straight into wall so then I'd have 2 filters inline.  Is this a problem? Or can I just use the ADSL filter upstairs that has to be there. 

Again apologies.  I just can't be left with no internet so considering cancelling.
