Only being offered 51-57 Mbps download speed by EE, already getting 70+

I moved away from BT in December to Talktalk as BT had become too expensive (we were on Halo 3). Talktalk is a terrible service. Internet drops out often and drops to 2mbps occasionally. Never had this problem with BT so moving back. I've been directed to the EE website from the BT website with offers of 66-74 Mbps, which is about what we've always been getting via both BT and Talktalk (when it works). When I get to the EE website, they're only offering 51-57 Mbps. Why aren't they offering 65-70ish? We are a household of six people so we do need as much bandwidth as possible.

Whatever EE is offering, above 40 Meg, you'll get the same speed as you were getting from BT.

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker.

Hi, thanks for your help.

We don't use the landline at all. We have a number but it's never been used. I'm not even sure we asked for one. When I put it into the wholesale checker, I get the following: There is no data available. This may be because it is not a BT line or it is a number which has been moved to an IP Voice service. We advise using the address to check availability instead.

And if you do it on the address?

I have found the EE offering to change depending on how my BT line is performing, as it has had a minor fault that meant it kept dropping out and synching back at a lower speed (hopefully now sorted as Openreach have literally just left).

When I look at my offer to move from BT to EE I am sometimes offered Fibre 67, other times Fibre 50, so I would recommend checking at different times of the day.

I just tried the EE website again, offered Fibre 50, max download speed 55 Mbps, upload is 9 Mbps.

My hub is currently synched at 65 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload. 🤣

Yes, you should get 70-80 Meg there whatever the EE plan is called.

The package being offered is Fibre 67 Essentials broadband plan and it offers "average speeds of 67 Mbps." I'm guessing that if I get this package, we'll just get the fastest speed possible and it's not throttled?

That's correct. You'll probably get 80 Meg. I had the same plan until recently & always got 80 Meg sync speeds.
