ONT and Router in very inconvenient spot

Hi, my ONT and Router were placed in the kitchen BEHIND the tv and very near the windows, washing machine and dryer last year on installation. I just recently regraded to get 900mbps speeds with 700 guaranteed but i just cannot get over 150 anywhere in the house. I don’t really want to pay money for something that should never have been put ther ein the first place. What are the easiest options i would have guys?

@kylegaf2003 Longer Ethernet cable from the ONT to the Hub, and move the EE Hub out from behind the TV, that will also help get your wifi speed up somewhat. The further you get away from the Hub the lower the speed get's so do not expect to get the 700Mb/s minimum you quote all over the home, that may require you to have extender mesh units required.

Was not a responsible person present when the OR engineer installed the ONT and agreed its position? Now all you can do is to call CS and see if it can be moved.

@kylegaf2003 , just to add, just make sure that you get a longer lan Ethernet cable, RJ45 Cat 5 Ethernet cable to plug into the ONT and router, you can buy them from EBay for a few pounds depending on the length you need. I have done that, and it works perfectly, much simpler than getting the ONT moved.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using web based app or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Cat 5e min or as per OR Docs Cat 6

Got a 10m Cat 6 sat around somewhere will thag be good enough?

@kylegaf2003 That will work just fine and also let you see what you can get once you move the EE Hub position, try a few spots when you move it, more central will give you the better wireless wifi spread. Does take a few day's also for EE to up the system speed to the FF900, just incase that is also a factor you need to consider. Anything above what you had as the original FF connection will mean that has been completed also.
