Hi all,
I hope someone can help my sanity with a solution to my Broadband problem, fingers cross 🤞
I already have EE fast fibre at the house, my contract expired recently and today I spoke with EE to seek a new deal. The advisor was clearly trying very hard to assist me but was unable to find my address on the new EE system. It was suggested that my address had not been registered with OpenReach but they installed the fibre 2 years ago. I was told I should go to the Post Office and register my address with OpenReach. The Post Office staff looked at me as if I had 2 heads.
Help please.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

OK. I would be surprised if they couldn't, they put the fibre in. It is EE who can't find it and are suggesting I should register it with OR.

@RayLynas Can you not just give them your current account number?

Hi Jim,
They could see my existing account on the old system but not the new. As I understand it, that limited the new contracts they could offer.
Ta.

@RayLynas sounds like you have been given the run around, no idea why!
Have you tried to see what other ISP's can offer - try PlusNet, also part of the BT Group to at least see if they can offer something, or if there is indeed an Openreach issue. Maybe also have a look on the BTW DSL checker - https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL use the address check if you don't have phone number of one of the other numbers they are looking for.

Hi Mustrum,
OpenReach webpage says I can have a faster connection, BT webpage allowed me to sign up for 500Mbps, I haven't yet as I have a callback from EE tomorrow .
Screenshot of the checker attached, doesn't mean anything to me.

Can your address be discovered by the Royal Mail Postcode Finder?

Yes, address is correct on the link.

Then OR should be able to discover it too.

@RayLynas well the good news is that you appear to be able to get up to double what you have/were asking about.
A check with another ISP should confirm that.
