Not getting 2.5G connection, only 1000 mbps with 1.6Gbps package

Hi

I have recently had the 1.6Ggps broadband fitted but can only get around 940 Mbps.

I am using an ASUS Router GT-BE98 that has multiple 2.5G and 10G connections with a Cat 7 cable going directly to my PC with a ROG Maximus Hero Z790 motherboard which has a 2.5 G built-in Intel 1226-V ethernet controller (with updated drivers). I have changed the cable going from the open reach box to the ASUS Router to Cat 7. I have changed my PC ethernet controller Advanced options to 2.5 Gbps Full Duplex but I can still only get around 940 Mbps and the Link Speed in the Windows settings shows 1000/1000 (Mbps).

Can anyone help please?

Paul

If your PC is saying 1000/1000 you're chasing your tail trying to get anything more.  There's clearly an issue between the PC and router.  As someone else said, you need to get a 2500Mb connection to your router being reported by your PC.

Yes the ONT was only installed on Friday. I was on Virgin before. If I can’t get it resolved when they sort out their account problems I’ll ask for a BT Engineer to call out.

Hi

Sorry I should have mentioned that I subsequently attached my windows laptop and MacBook using a 2.5g USB dongle and both showed a 2500mbps connection but would only download at around 940mbps maximum.

Thanks

Paul

I have now reconnected my EE Hub and this is what I am seeing in the seeing - they have told me that they have sorted out my account problems....Should the WAN links speed show higher?

@paulmccarrison2 When did you reconnect the EE router time/date wise, and when were you told that EE had sorted out your account?

At last! There, that proves it. As you have a 2.5 Gig ONT, EE are only delivering you with 1 Gig BB.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

OK, so after an EE Engineer came out and referred it back to Openreach, an Openreach engineer called out this morning and replaced the ONT which she said was faulty.

The result is below

@paulmccarrison2    thanks for coming back and letting us know what the issue was.

Hopefully you can now enjoy the faster speeds.

@paulmccarrison2 If you have time, can you also post an updated status page to display the sync speed 1.6/1.8. Thanks

If it's the black router they have sent you the wrong one. Had same issue but my router has been replaced. Black router gives Max 1000mbs on internet cable. You need the pro 7 which is white and is the newer routers will get your speed.
