New smart plus router activation

Hi had the new router today and we switch to EE smart plus router from the old BT smart hub 2 as we are taking Ee tv on a new customer deal  on Wednesday . 

Does the old bt router cut off which lets you know the new router can be plugged in or do they let you know when it can be switched as wife works from home using the internet .

we are keeping the same speed 150 full fibre so I only need to change router cables - any idea what time of day it usually happens and how long it will take for her to swap them over as I will not be home

You should find the WiFi settings in the router under Advanced > Advanced Wireless. You'll probably find the EE app's Manage WiFi Controls won't work while on BT BB & (spoiler alert!) later probably won't work on EE BB.

Plugged in the new Ee router and it lit blue - all devices are connected to it and working but twice did the hour hub update and both times it said installation failed and also the qr code didn’t pair the app to hub .

i rang EE and they said those issues are probably due to the activation date being tomorrow and if I try the update tomorrow it should work and pair with app too
