New Super Fast Fibre, time to get full speed

Hi  all,

today I had super fast fibre connect, the 1.6gb busy home package, it went live at around 16:30 or so.

Running speed tests on both Fast.com and the Ookla app is showing an average of around 400/500mb on my iPhone and significantly less on my iPad. I can accept the differences between the devices (will look at the iPad later) but even so this is massively less than I was expecting.

Does a brand new install take time to settle down before it starts delivering the speed I thought I was getting?

thanks

eta fixed ipad discrepancy so now running at same as iPad

@Skeeter1600e  70% of 1600Mbps is about 1130Mbps give or take, iPhone 16 is a Wi-Fi 7 device and should be able to get to 1130Mbps if that can not be achived contact EE Customer Support (Also make sure you ask for NEW EE too) and see if they can assit you further.

As for ethernet yes Cat5e is more than enough but just for head room i'd say a cat 7 is the better option for future proofing as the speeds only seem to be getting faster.

Also I have a PS4 Slim and it has5GHz (is this the one youhave?)

I can get about 350Mbps but my AP is wall mounted and less the 20ft away from me with no wall in-between
