New Ethernet Issues

I mainly use ethernet connections around my house to connect tv's, computers, cctv and we get a super fast connection. Because of the amount of devices, we use two plug and play switches, one downstairs and one upstairs.
This set up has been working flawlessly for months, however for some reason the other night it seems both my switches no longer pass the internet connections. This happend a few days ago.
The connection coming direct from the EE hub is good so the is a connection coming from the hub but once it goes in to either switch it is not passing it to the other devices. I tried use another switch to see if it was hardware failure but no, it's the same with a new switch, also it would be odd for two switch devices to fail at the same time. Also all the cables have been checked. EE sent me a new hub but still the same. Could ee have updated the hub to not allow it to pass the internet connection when connected to a switch? It's really got me in a bind because the wireless is awful in this house. Any ideas what it could be? I tried calling EE and the lady on the technical support line did not know what a switch was.

@addyboo What EE hub do you have, what switches do you have also size/ports and uplink is it connected to the EE network ports. Will assume that you have plugged in a device that is working into the EE hub so you know that the hub port is fine, ie a laptop etc...

@addyboo   I have a similar setup, and from time to time the switch needs a reset, which by changing it I assume you have done.

Start from the Hub, and try again with the fault finding and make sure you have everything disconnected from the switch and router, check the Hub with a known good device/laptop, use the same cable and add the switch close to the router, then if OK plug one of the longer cables in and test with the laptop, then the switch one port at a time. I am sure you get the idea.

Let us know how you get on.

I'd say the CAM tables need clearing but if you've restarted the switches that will have done that.  Other thing that comes to mind is that you've accidentally created a switching loop somewhere.
