My Wifi connection drops off for a few seconds every day

Over the past few weeks my wifi seems to stop for a few seconds then reconnects. I've spoken to EE support and they advised me to split out to a compatibility mode at 2.4 Ghz and save my main as 5 Ghz. It seems both modes still cut off. This is really frustrating as I work from home.

I found this post: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-Landline/To-everyone-having-Wi-Fi-dropouts-amp-other-problem...

Do you know when this problem will be fixed?

Is it the BB as a whole dropping or just the WiFi connections? Do Ethernet connected devices stay working? What colours are the light sequence when it happens?

BB issues are rarely widespread but specific to your own line.

If it is a neighbourhood issue, you could consult Check service in your area  to see if any faults are being attended to in your local area. You may also Report a Problem there.

Text HELP to 66033 to get EE to test the line & see what needs doing.

Which EE router & WiFi extenders, if any, do you have (read label or post a pix)? What is the name of the EE BB plan are you on including its speed?

@alexc278 The post you linked was an old oops that EE did with a FW update and was fixed now months ago, you do not say which hub you have so time for you cannot be said, but see a sample below for the 6+ version. Started May fixed June.

FW: r3.8.30-R-1627300-PROD-83002 and the gui is at App version 3.1.18 05/12/2025

FW: r5.19.1-R-2036010-PROD-83002 and the gui is at App version 3.17.5 17/09/2026

Thanks @JimM11

My hub's firmware version is r4.26.3-R-1923144-PROD-83002

Does that include the fix according to your sample or do I need a later firmware?

My answer was to your part ""Do you know when this problem will be fixed?""

@alexc278 That was the fix so you are done, not enough detail from you to even start the guessing game. Have you taken a look at the log files or anything else in the EE Hub, going Comp was one off the EE hopes and did they even test your connection before saying give it a try.

https://192.168.1.254 to use the web manager and everything will be in the advanced section to start with. Also answer the questions that @XRaySpeX posted back, when you talk with EE they weasel it all out off you, Forum wise you need to be saying.

Couple off seconds is nothing, if you did not work from home you might not even be seeing it.

Hi @XRaySpeX

Thanks for your reply. I think it's just the WiFi connections that are just dropping although it's hard to tell as I am not near the EE hub when it happens. There are no devices connected using Ethernet.

I contacted EE last month and they suggested adding the 2.4 GHz compatibility mode.

I have the Smart Hub 6 Plus and am on the Fibre 67 Standard with WiFi Optimiser plan.
