Hi all,
I'm just looking for some advice/thoughts on this situation.
FTTP has recently become available in my town, of course I upgraded after a few terrible years dealing with copper lines! This obviously puts me in another 2 year contract, I'm currently about 4 months in.
Due to certain circumstances I am moving house just a few streets across which are new builds with FTTP already there. My understanding was I could carry my current contract/package across however after speaking to an EE guide, there is a price increase from £44.99 to £59.99 and would be a new 24 month contract. If I were to choose another provider then they would charge a cancellation fee of £360. I feel like I'm being forced into a new more expensive contract that I'm not happy with and no increase in speeds!
Considering no engineer visit is required and I am taking my current equipment with me, I feel its unfair for the increase especially while under contract with the exact package available to the new property. What's everyone else's thoughts?
Thanks

@JoshB800 That does seem strange, I would have expected the new service to be at the same price, depending on timing with the March increase,.
Not so sure on Full Fibre, but with ADSL.VDSL home moves there was often an instal charge that was factored into the monthly cost if not paid up front. Although it is not shown on FF costs, I suspect it is an included cost over the two years.
Alas no one on here has account access, so can't go into your specifics, but perhaps another call to EE may get you more details as to why the cost is so much more.

@JoshB800 which package are you on now and are you looking for the same at your new address? Have you added in any extras? Those figures do not seem to match current orices.

I am currently on Essentials: full fibre gigabit. 700Mbps guaranteed download, costing £44.99.
No added extras and would like to continue on the same package

Hi @JoshB800
Nobody is forcing you and you can cancel and pay the cancellation fee. The change of address and service is a new contract and new connection.
Thanks

But do you have any insight on the cost? The same package for the property im moving too is still significantly cheaper than what i was told.

Not sure why prices are different, I can't get FF here, but using my son's address the same package is £42.99.
That said, if you subtract 44.99 from 59.99 and multiply by 24 amazingly it comes to £360.

An update!
After calling back today to try further understand the increased cost, I was informed the information i was given was incorrect and I could in-fact take my current contract/package with me for the same cost.
Thanks all for the help.
