Hi,
I've just been "invited" to upgrade my broadband from Full Fibre Core 500 to 900 for £0. I'm currently using a BT Smart Hub 2 - I didn't get an EE router when I upgraded to full fibre a couple of years ago. I'm currently mid-24 month contract. My understanding is that if I accept an upgrade I'll get an EE Smart Hub 7 Plus.
In our house we have a few TAPO Smart plugs, Ring doorbell/chime (subscribed), the laptops we use are Macs of 2015 and 2017 vintage, iPhones SE 2022, TV is fairly recent LG. We use YouTube a lot, as well as football streaming. No gaming or anything like that. Oh, and BT DV phones, which drive me nuts with their random rebooting and poor battery management (but that's another story).
Simple question, really. Should we upgrade or not? Will we see any benefit on our relatively old computers. More importantly, are we likely to break anything due to incompatibility with older wifi standards.
Thanks.

@baron75mk3 May be free but do wonder if 24months again to recontract....

Yes that could be a possibility indeed.

So, I've accepted the upgrade. Same price as now, with agreed annual increases, 24 month contract, new Smart Hub 7 Plus.
After seeing that new customers get the same broadband for £5 a month cheaper I tried to haggle but they wouldn't play.

@drlabman Let the Forum know how the BT SH2 stack's up against the EE 7+ as a like/like switch out for you, good test with it have such a variation of device attachement.

I will.
Slight **bleep**-up on the ordering front. I did it all via in-app chat. Whoever I chatted with yesterday messed up the order so I had to go through it all again today. EE 7+ is now delayed until Friday. Life lesson - if you don't get a "Thanks for your order email" it wasn't done properly.

Sorry that happened & yes whenever i order something online & dont get a confirmation alarm bells start ringing

@drlabman Chatter was to busy chattering and forgot to push that Order Now Customer wants to go button...🤔

Plus they are very pushy. For example, "while I'm looking at this, would you care to tell me what mobile network you use and how much you pay per month", "you've now unlocked EEONe Benefits ... Netflix, etc for £13 a month ... amazing isn't it", etc
No thank you, just get my broadband upgrade order done correctly.

Its EE One Rewards , it can be quite good, its basically "The more you have the more discount you get on something else" , i got a good deal on an unlimited sim for £12 a month , i think it was usually £22 but my One rewards brought the price down.
