‘Legacy’ Devices Disconnecting

cdpsmith

My Ring doorbell and house alarm constantly disconnect and the Ring doorbell is a waste of time as it takes an age to connect to the point where callers have left the property before it works!

I’ve tried a second router, I’ve tried splitting the frequencies and ring fencing the 2.4ghz for those ‘older’ devices but to no avail.

im at a point where the lot is going as soon as the contract runs expires. It’s been a massive disappointment especially given the money outlaid every month.

Had anyone any possible solutions please as it’s driving me crazy! Thanks!

@cdpsmith   Disconnect from what ?  What router are you using ?   Have you tried enable compatibility mode on the router?

@cdpsmith You could do as i did, but will be determined by your power socket locations, installed a Tp-Link WPA4220KIT and set it for use only on the Ring Doorbell, RSSI was up in the high 60's and very intermittent, now runs around the low 40's still a slight delay but that is all down to Ring themselves what they prioritise but motion get's the signal within a few seconds and no disconnects wifi wise! 2.4Ghz is about 6' away from the doorbell through and in the middle of outer door triple glazed inner door heavy solid wood and nearest AP 20' away, power lined back to the main Hub. On my son's i just used one off these TL-WA850RE and stuck it in his hallway different issue the Ring would just not connect to his VM 5x hub!

Understanding wifi recommendations for Ring devices

This also to consider and placement will be required to boost the signal.
