Old phone not working with digital. EE sent an adapter. Set up. Solid green light. Still not working.

Bought a BT landline phone. Repeat set up. Still no dial tone?

What next, please.

@Alibagz When did you change to a DV service, it takes from 24 - 72hrs for everything to start to operate, unless the package was one that does not include the DV part?

5 days ago! EE sent out Mr Openreach. No faults but EE must activate VOIP.
Sent them this in his report. No joy. Requested an adapter from EE. Two
came. Set one up correctly. Solid green light showed connected. Old phone
no dial tone. Bought another phone, BT decor 2200, reset etc. No dial tone!
Can return latter to local shop.
But, not going down the route of buying another for it to fail!
Will have to borrow Elmer's mobile, again, get onto EE, (20 mins dire music
wait) and see what's up ....
Would you agree with the VOIP theory?

@Alibagz It will not matter, until EE activate the DV service on the router then you will get no dial tone, have you tried plugging the phone directly into the phone connection at the rear of the router?

Yes! Even into the OR socket in the wall ...vain hope!
Seems a 20-30 mins of dreadful music approaching until some person at EE
answers!
One wonders if they actually read the engineers report? So frustrating.
But, many thanks for your advice and help, Jim. Really appreciated.
Wil let you know how I get on!
Regards.

@Alibagz You can forget the wall socket's and any ext sockets etc from OR, they are dead for ever now that you are but does sound like someone forgot to activate or setup your DV option so you can have a landline!!!

@Alibagz Glad your all sorted now, the help and the Digital Home Phone under Home Services, is a good area on the forum for any additional needs or queries with your DV system, its in a little state of flux at present trying to sort out a few issues with the service in general so hope it does not throw up any issues as it beds itself in for you.👍

Brilliant! You've been of great help. So appreciated.
Thanks again.
