Issue with ethernet affecting Wifi

the_realkopite

So i am having an issue with my EE Broadband and cannot pinpoint what it is. My Wi-fi keeps flopping on my devices, i have narrowed it down to something to do with Ethernet going into my PC or my PC itself (cant see it being that). Looking at the Event log in the router the ethernets keep connecting/disconnecting which i believe may be the cause. Is this a new Router needed do we think? Any help would be appreciated.

I have attached what the event log looks like.

Hi @the_realkopite

Does your WiFi drop at all when the ethernet cable is disconnected/laptop switched off?

First step its worth restarting or even resetting your router.

Also recommend checking your laptop ethernet driver is up-to-date.
Please test an alternative ethernet cable, preferably Cat 6 or higher.

@the_realkopite What EE Hub do you have, the PC is losing the Ethernet connection and it is also getting different ports to it unless that is you disconnecting and trying other Ethernet ports on the back off the EE Hub?

Is the PC dual operation with both wired/wireless ports on it, also what type of NIC is it as has been on all the sync speeds that i can see Ethernet wise?

The ports seen are eth2 and 3 and syncs at 10, 100, 1000 and 2500Mb/s.

If you have a real old 10Mb/s speed Ethernet port displayed as eth2 and it's a 10Mb/s device then take that off, the EE Hub will not like the operation with that, see if it starts to work with it disconnected as a first.

The 2500Mb/s speed Ethernet connection would possibly be better with a Higher than Cat5e cable connection but it really depends on the quality and length off the cable involved, 1Gb/s ports will be happy cat5e no issues.
