Install date changed, auto compensation?

Looking for some advice, ordered full fibre on 1st Dec and was given an install date of 29th December. Saw openreach in the street and they pulled a rope through the duct, no external grey box as yet. However, got a text message from openreach on 15th December "hi it's openreach, we have received your order from EE and will be installing your full fibre on 29 Dec arriving between 8am-1pm".

About 30 mins ago I got an email from EE "next steps" and says install date 17th January! So I called them and asked what was going on, they said the 17th Jan is the correct date and I expained about the message from openreach 5 days ago, and I asked about auto compensation which is paid by openreach in any case, and he said it wasn't until today the install date was confirmed. But any reasonable person would surely take the date from the people who actually do the work as to be the confirmed install date. It doesn't say we may, might or should be there on 29 Dec.  So can anyone help? Initially I called to ask the question and am more annoyed to get a follow-up email to say my "complaint" was closed and even says "we were pleased we could help".

@zak99   your contract is with EE not their suppliers Openreach.

It is likely that the Openreach date is just for one part of the work, ie the external fibre, but that the internal work and circuit build needed to be scheduled with a different department.

ZFor what it is worth, ISP's seem to be a bit more reluctant in quoting early dates now that compensation may be paid if dates are missed.

Actually the text after I replied back saying CONFIRM like it asked said that "we will attach two small openreach boxes..." I just left that out to not make it too long, but the date was confirmed in the first message as far as I'm concerned.

But you said that was from Openreach.

Your contract is with EE.

And it's openreach who pay the compensation. Just don't bother replying any more please.

Sorry, but you are wrong, Openreach are not the ones who pay compensation.

You are putting too much faith & reliance on OR. Your contract is not with them but with EE. Anything that OR say is not binding on EE, your supplier. Also OR don't pay compensation but it is paid by the individual ISPs.

Accordingly there is no way you can claim compensation for the perceived "delay" between OR's non-contractual estimate of 29 Dec to EE's actual contractual quote of 17 Jan.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.
