IPv6 - static, sticky, dynamic

I understand a /56 prefix is allocated for each connection.

With IPv6 SLAAC is often used for devices to allocate their own addresses within the prefix.

My question is whether the prefix offered to clients is fixed (always the same for me), sticky (in practice mostly stays the same), or dynamic (likely to change on every connect).

The reason that this is important is that whilst the prefix lease is valid, if say the router goes off, and then comes back a new prefix is allocated, but local machines using slaac may not have to allocate new addresses. This can then lead to lack of connectivity for a period.

You cannot have fixed IP addresses with EE you’ll need BT Business Broadband, reason for this is because it’s better, safer and more secure for personal connections, doesn’t apply to Servers, Networks, etc as they have VPN’s, encryption, etc.

You should be able to move from NEW EE to BT Business as it uses the same CRM and you’ll have to double check but you won’t get HTTCs either.

But you must have a registered companies house business.
