As the title says, I can pair the hybrid connect to my Smart Hub pro 7 via an Ethernet cable but when I remove the cable it flashes aqua and eventually flashes red. I’ve reset both the smart hub and hybrid connect device and still no joy. I’ve seen a few posts a while back with the same problem but no solutions, the threads just end.
ive tried initial pairing via WiFi setup and WPS etc, still no joy. I factory reset the device each time I try a new method.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hard to prove conclusively but I wonder if the WiFi radio on the Hybrid Connect is faulty 🤷
Pretty sure I know the answer to the question but you don't have 5GHz disabled on the Pro do you?

I've stumbled across rhetoric in the past where similar problems have been encountered when third party access points are connected to the hub. Are you using anything like that? (I think it was Deco kit I remember reading about).

I am using UniFi UX7 x2 mesh (but using an Ethernet backhaul which is plugged in the smart hub pro). Will disconnect and try and report back. Good shout Bob!

Disconnected and unplugged both UX7’s from my network and tried again to set up the hybrid unit, no joy again.
Factory reset both the ee router and hybrid connect and tried Ethernet which works as previously but once disconnected eventually just flashes red. Also tried WPS setup after another factory reset and that doesn’t work whatsoever just sits flashing aqua and then eventually flashes red.
I can live with Ethernet only but it bugs me😖

It’s funny you mention if 5ghz WiFi is enabled because when I originally tried setting up I forgot I had disabled the EE routers WiFi completely! However I did realise eventually and it still isn’t working. I may pick up another from ebay to see if this one I have is faulty. Although I don’t desperately need it to work via WiFi.

Disconnected all my Ux7's again to give it once last go!!!! Low and behold I've found, well pretty sure I've found what the issue is. My smarthub pro isnt transmitting a 5ghz signal, it says it is in the GUI but after using a wifi scanner app it definitely isn't, plus when i disable 2.4ghz the SSID vanishes even with 5ghz wifi enabled on the smart hub. I have completed a fair few factory resets using the GUI and the pinhole and no change.
Due to me normally having the wifi disabled on the smarthub pro as i use the UX7's for that i didnt notice and assumed it would be working still (it did work for sure when i first had the smart hub pro). Ethernet cable it is for me as i am actually a BT customer, i only purchased the smarthub pro as i wanted 2.5g ports as i transfer big files internally to/from a NAS.
Cheers Bob!
