Hot and cold messages from EE/openreach is this usual?

Hi all.

I'm just migrating from plusnet to EE with an engineers appointment for fibre install  for May 19th.  I'm getting opposite text messages on alternate days.  First day suggesting everythings on track, then next day saying sorry slight delay and repeat.  I just wondered if this is usual ?  The router and ATA came today, so at least thats here.

Fibre has only just become available here. (rural  low population area)

Its a hub one, and wont let me get at the stats.  I'll have to look on line to see what I'm doing wrong, it seems some options include another program to force the issue.  Clicking on advanced just gets an advanced button loop.

I have been back on to EE  a couple of hours ago,   and theyve managed to get more information from openreach, obviously this is just what the customer services chap was given and may not be the whole picture.   It looks like the cost of install is going over their limit, the length of cable was an issue too.  Lack of planning was mentioned, I know for a fact the farm hadn't been contacted for field access (their only stipulation would have been dry fields for vehicular access - its dry now)

The reason they didn't just go to FTTC instead was the stop/sell order so the order was cancelled.   According to customer services theyve applied to override (not sure if thats the best description) the stop/sell so that FTTC can be provided.

So back to square one for the moment.  Plusnet were supposed to be phoning at 1600 (not so far).  Hopefully they should be able to see the updated openreach information shortly.

I have no idea what to do now.  😭. Honestly when you are 70+ you just want straightforward, getting messed around is so stressful.

If plusnet migrate me for the rest of the plusnet contract it will be at a similar price to what I'm paying now which is not realistic as I'm losing the safety of a fixed (not voip ) landline.    The bb/phone deal with EE for full fibre was £10 cheaper  over a fresh 2 year contract.  I'm hoping they will apply that price to the part fibre contract, with the promise of free upgrade when FFTP is available if ever.

I'm wondering if plusnet are able to put off the migration for a while?

A bit of an update.  Plusnet have put the migration on hold for a few months (in writing) which takes me past the holiday season, so in a better position to deal with it all later in the year.

I put in a query to Openreach  and got this reply back the next day:

Thank you for your recent enquiry raised via openreach.com, regarding the availability of fibre broadband.

I’ve looked into your enquiry and can confirm that Ultrafast Full Fibre Broadband is available to order.

Then Friday got a message from Openreach (the local ones I assume) saying :

Full fibre is  on the way! Our engineers are continuing to work to get your property ready for full fibre.  Thanks again for your patience.

This despite Openreach engineer not showing on activation date, then telling customer services, that theyd cancelled as full fibre wasn't available, which ended with EE cancelling the broadband order.

So very confused now.  What happens if they turn up to install with no ISP order in place??

They can't. They need to be commissioned by an ISP. They probably mean getting it ready in your vicinity. Then again they probably don't in view of the confusion they themselves are in.
