Highly unstable Wifi

Amanda193

My wifi has been unstable for a few months now, I get high packet loss and network jittering. I have called up multiple times to EE and they have "sent" engineers to fix it the fault but it is never fixed. They have also tried factory resetting the router and it is still broken. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I'll need to double check once I'm home but thank you. I know the wifi was a long code

Hi so just checked it's the ee one and has 7 beside WiFi symbol. So I think it's the main one as it also starts with ee

@Bobmac11061987 think it is _comp behind the ssid name, do not have a router now so cannot compare for you, and it may if i remember got to be enabled to use, will be in the help somewhere. Help page was being weird with the new AI edge browser so had to get the laptop powered. Link below

This suggests that the phone/device you're connecting from is Wi-Fi 7 capable. If that's the case then there's no way you should have to connect it to the Compatible WiFi network 🤔

Are you using/do you need the Smart WiFi extender that came with your Smart WiFi Pro? If you are using it, I'm wondering if it's worth you trying to power it off for a while to see how things perform with just the hub in situ.

@bobpullen More about the older devices, don't think the firestick is up at 7 yet?

OK I can try turning second hub off also. It's mainly WiFi to my phone and also firestick. Wot download videos on phone then minute turn WiFi off it will work via phone connection.

Firestick buffers alot which I nevrr had an issue with talk talk.

I upgraded for much faster speeds but didn't expect issues I'm having now.

Thanks for your reply

I'm Not sure so is there anyway round that? If firestick isn't a 7 how would I make this work

Thanks again for your reply

@Bobmac11061987 You setup the compatible network, it has another name, so you just enable it, and tell the firestick to use that ssid instead.

Are you a mobile only app person?

OK great thank you mate

@JimM11  - it isn't, but the Compatible WiFi network is probably more about devices that don't support the newer Wi-Fi encryption methods than it is the actual WiFi standard. Most newer Firesticks 'know' about WPA3 so shouldn't struggle with the Main WiFi network in principal.

WPA3 has been around a lot longer than Wi-Fi 7 and has been mandatory for Wi-Fi certification since 2020.

Certainly no harm in trying Compatible WiFi though.
