Hello,
I want to get an Eero Pro 7 in to replace my standard EE Wifi 6 hub.
I can then take advantage of the new router and possibly add an additional one as part of a mesh but are there any known issues in the basics of replacing the EE supplied hub? I've tried to search the forums for similar posts so wanted to ask...
1. Will the EE VOIP landline I use have any issues?
2. Will the EE TV box be fine working with a new router? Looking at other posts, it looks like the internet TV services and guide may be impacted?
3. I assume most of the router cabled and wifi services will work but anything else I need to know?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @cwarrent
What speed you receiving for your broadband.
Could you not just plug your eero into the ethernet port and use the eero for your main service and the EE router for the EE services.
I would also suggest buying 6E eero from eBay cheap to try out as there is not much difference to the pro and will still work on the mesh. I have a 7 pro connected to my ISP router at one address and a 6E and pro network are another.
Thanks

@Northerner Are you routing with your third party wan/lan connected?

I'm on the 500Mbps package I think - on kind of related note, this may be a dated package on checking the live EE site I should maybe getting 900Mbps or 1.6Mbps. Also they seem to offer Wifi 7 routers as standard now!?
I think you're right on your main query and via AI I've been researching this specific option to use it as a bridge and then slowly migrate devices across to the Eero that need the benefits THEN if as seems likely, if I move broadband provider (and TV, VOIP), then in theory there won't be too much wifi migration work needed in the future switch too.

@cwarrent FF500 is still a current EE package, moving up to FF900 should be no issue package wise, getting a 7Plus/Pro hub from them as a freebie then takes you negotiating that for NO extra cost as what you have is good enough for either speed, the jump to 1.6Gb/s is not an offered or easy option currently with EE, but in six months time yes it may be and a 7Pro hub is absolute Minimum to get that speed, as the 6+ will just not handle it at all. Ferrari with a Skoda Engine, not to belittle skoda...

Haha... nice explanation. I'll see if I can query what speed I should be getting on my current contract (and price).

Hi @JimM11
One 7 pro it is connected directly via ethernet. The router it connects to is part of the Glide 1GB setup so is connected to the electric meter, heating, water in the new building flat. It's a Nokia and only WiFi 5!. Technically it's a double nat as it is not in bridge mode but I have no issues so haven't changed it, not broke etc.
On the other address the 7 pro 6e mesh network the 7 pro is directly connected to the ont box with the 6e supporting in the lounge connected to a switch.
Thanks

@Northerner Got it, way to go just don't like turning a ERRO Pro into an AP mode if drastic functions all get last, not that erro is anything i know well, pure Asus user and 6Ghz would never get through my brick walls for location that is why tri-band on 5Ghz only.

I am big eero fan as they just work and are simple to set up and receive regular updates.
If the OP upgrades to 900 or stays at 500 I would definitely get some Pro 6E from Amazon or better priced from eBay and run them via the EE router ethernet as that will be a huge upgrade and work great if you get a 7. If they get 1.6 then the Pro 7 is the best option as from many posts on this forum EE routers are terrible.
Thanks

@Northerner Yes, reason i quit EE 20 months ago with the first Failed FW update that introduced the Comp mode to the then 6+, seen the writing on the wall as soon as i worked out what they did, stupid me took two day's though to settle it all back down then EE tells me it's all my Asus that is the problem, duh...
