After going round the houses quite a few times, I finally spoke to a chap in Belfast who logged into the router and extender to see what was going on.
He could see that the extender was reporting a 2.5 Gbps speed, whereas the admin portal on the hub was reporting 1000 Mbps.
Now that little conundrum has been solved I can work on expanding the network of extenders.

I agree, and it's not helpful as a lot of time was wasted by me and tech support.

@GDog3 Thought it was longer ago but seems that Jan was the time, linked the post below and there was another somewhere where Bob i was sure he said had informed EE, but not going to swear 100% on that one! The information on the Forum is just so hard to get the precise needed back!

Many thanks Jim
It seems that the Guides at EE are unaware of this issue. I'll try and get it highlighted. Not holding my breath 😁

@GDog3 Surprised they even know what day it is!

This is interesting...
Today I added a second extender to the first one via ethernet.
The FIRST one now shows 2.5 GbE and the SECOND one (new one) is reporting 1000 Mbps!
And the original one firmware version r2.64.6-R-1303886-PROD-1
New one r2.64.7-R-1303938-PROD-1
Then I had an idea - REMOVED one of the cables from the new one (which was connecting to a 1000 Mbps switch... and LO!
Now this one too is reporting 2.5 GbE
So it seems the firmware is reporting on only one of the ports - the slowest.

@GDog3 Could also be that as there is not TWO Entries for the ports, it picks up the lowest value and display's that, wonder if you throw a 2.5Gb/s on each that it bumps it up to display the max, you sure are knocking them all off one by one! No doubt sometime the FW will get updated to the 2nd unit, so you need to catch it all before then if it is indeed FW orientated!

Yes indeed. I managed to feedback to EE - well, I think I did. I was a bit dismayed when, despite my clear email the Guide who called asked if I was using a Disk or an external relay... 🙄
She said she would pass it on.
I also said it seemed a bit odd that the only way of providing feedback was to raise a complaint.
The firmware ought to be able to be nuanced and show each port.

@GDog3 The suggestion will be filed in that special place, called who gives a !"£$.
There is one EE support who jumps in now and again last was the Lack of Ethernet connectivity and having to wait up to 30 seconds every time you connected to any port on the hub, not sure off the name, will have a search later!

@GDog3 - have I understood this right..?
