EE WiFi Pro Extender mis-reporting ethernet speeds

After going round the houses quite a few times, I finally spoke to a chap in Belfast who logged into the router and extender to see what was going on.

He could see that the extender was reporting a 2.5 Gbps speed, whereas the admin portal on the hub was reporting 1000 Mbps.

Now that little conundrum has been solved I can work on expanding the network of extenders.

Thanks, going to give it a go myself when I get a min and see if it's the same.

@GDog3 - have I understood this right..?

  • Connect an extender using wired backhaul
  • Hub Manager shows 2.5GbE
  • Connect a 1GbE device to the additional extender port
  • Hub Manager now shows 1GbE

I finally got round to checking this on my setup the other day. My extender is using wired backhaul via a couple of unmanaged 2.5GbE switches.

I checked the extender link speed in the Hub Manager and it was correctly reporting 2.5GbE. I then connected a 1GbE laptop to the second Ethernet port on the extender and checked again - still showing 2.5GbE. For good measure, I then unplugged the laptop and connected a 10/100Mb Raspberry Pi to the extender - still showing 2.5GbE 🤷‍♂️
