Hi all, We have an EE Smart Hub Plus and want to extend its range.
To cut to the chase I want to know if the Google Wifi Pro system is compatible with the Smart Hub Plus.
I have seen posts mentioning that you need to switch it to "access point" mode to avoid double NAT and others stating you need to turn off the router (sounds like the same as the above) but that the Smart Hub Plus doesn't have this ability. I also can't find anything like this in the setting I can access through the EE app.
EE support said they didn't know and I should check the forums.
Has anyone any experience before I buy? Oh, and yes I know EE have their own Smart Wifi which would work seamlessly but it's not the prettiest thing to have out on the sideboard.
Thanks

Hi @wazzzo
Are you intending to connect via ethernet to your EE Smart Hub Plus router .
Thanks

Yes, connection to the first unit via ethernet, then two subsequent units via wifi to extend the wifi as far as possible.

@wazzzo what broadband package do you have?
Is it delivered via the phone line or do you have full fibre?
If the latter you can probably do away with the router, unless you also have Digital Voice.
Oh, do you have EETV?

@wazzzo the Openreach ONT on the wall is a modem (a fibre one) so provided the Nest can be set to use PPOE then yes plug it into that in place of the EE router.
EE even have a handy Help page to show the settings https://ee.co.uk/help/broadband/getting-started/using-and-configuring-a-third-party-router

Google's Nest Wifi Pro is a good-looking Wi-Fi 6E mesh router that's simple to set up and use.
If that is what you have got you can plug connect your ONT modem to the main unit as it is a router

Mustrum and Ewan15 - yes, thank you, this is the info I had no idea about and couldn't find. The box on the wall is a modem!
I completely assumed the big box had all the bits in.
So, in short, it should work without the EE Smart Hub. I am guessing as well that the connection to EE isn't dependent upon the EE Smart Hub Pro and I can replicate just using the Google hardware. Obviously I still need to connect to my provider (EE).

@wazzzo yes - as previously mentioned, remove the EE router, and use the settings in the link I provided.
Give it a go and let us know how you get on.
