EE App not pairing with hub

So had this problem for a while, called EE and they changed hub. Still not working & now told it is an App issue and an update soon. Though seems this has been an ongoing issue for many. Any sign of a fix?

@Highlander671 Problem with the Forum, you will only see the problems posted, never had a problem with the router or the app. More detail would be required than what you have currently posted.

No. Had this since switching triple play from BT to EE a month ago. Escalated this, and half a dozen other issues, to CEO. Now on weekly updates re pairing and no WiFi Controls. Last call was Thursday, nothing to report, They’ve told me before it’s not a quick fix, and there’s some common features with those affected, but can’t (won’t) say what they are.

All I wanted to do was get the same level of functionality I had with BT 🤷🏼

@Minkey1 There have and probably still are people from over a year ago on the BT - EE Migration still do not have anything, and replied to you on the other posting 19th Oct. Jim

Thanks Jim. Appreciate the reply, and the context; it doesn’t make me feel any better. BT had its moments, but when it worked, everything worked 🤷🏼

@Minkey1 And the EE app is the same, do not use it now the router is setup how i want/need, and only check when someone ask's still working/cannot manage/no groups etc, so 5.49.0 just updated, looks like it is still working!👍

REsOLVED AT LAST . Hi, I’ve had the same problem in fact the identical problem since joining EE coming from BT.

Every time I use the app, the new one it would always pick up my BT router, even though I had plugged two replacement EE smart plus routers in, It didn’t matter what route I plugged in it would always pick the BT one up

Spoke to customer Services God knows how many times and went through uninstall the app and reinstall the app reset it was pointless. It just never worked always picked up the BT router.

An engineer around and he said he had no idea because it was a software issue with the app,

I had also tried using the Home app, but it wouldn’t allow to connect to my network and wouldn’t pick up the router, So I went back to the new app

I tried it just after the engineer had left, Although I had tried a manual set up many times before and the discord just spin and not connect this time I asked me for an admin password for the router. Thought I’d give it a guy and it and picked up my new smart router..

The engineer did nothing except the line, Customer service did nothing

The only difference I could spot was that my web protect was now turned off before it was turned on, I can’t remember turning it off or finding a switch that turned it off maybe I did maybe they did but whatever happened the web protect was turned off, And from that point onwards, I can fully manage my router Wi-Fi by the app.

After months of trying and trying and getting incredibly frustrated and failing, I’m exceedingly happy it’s now working, Hopefully this will help, All I can think of it must be that web protect turned on the block Access to the router At least that’s what it was in my case,

So pleased you’ve got a fix. I’ve only been battling non-functional WiFi Controls for just over a month, and feel exhausted.

I think the EE Home app is only for older routers?

Anyhoo, got a call on Monday from Complaints. Thought they’d fixed it, but no. Had to refer within then c/b again. After 3 calls he reset the router (Smart Plus) remotely, and ….. eureka!

WiFi Controls now working in the app on iPhone, and intermittently in the app on Fire tablet. I don’t use computers anymore.

Two snags since the reset. Second wi-fi extender lost connection and won’t re-pair over wi-fi, and Mini TV box says “there’s a problem with your internet for this channel”, despite the settings saying the box is connected, and it appearing in the Network grid.

So, 1 step forward, 2 steps back. But WiFi Controls works, and in that I’m back to the functionality I had w BT 👍

No idea what they’d been doing in the background 🤷🏼

The other stuff I’ll keep battling away on.

Mike
