@andyuk51   Hybrid connect does not transmit WiFi.

It can connect to the router via WiFi

More details of its operation in the Help Page https://ee.co.uk/help/broadband/getting-started/hybrid-connect-set-up#article-heading-1

Then it does transmit WiFi. If the hub goes down and it's not connected by cable then it connects by WiFi. All I need to know is WiFi active while it is connected by cable .

@andyuk51 Not sure if there is confusion with what you are asking, the EE Router is still the mainstay of operation, the Hybrid connect's to the router like any other device, as such it is not a transmitter of the radio ssid signal like the router is, the whole object of the hybrid, is take the broadband from you device that is transmitted to the EE Router the router then  passes it wireless to the Hybrid which in turn sends it out down the 4g mobile signal to the mast.

The HYBDRID device cannot work without the EE Router in operation, look at the help, the lights of both operation on the two devices tell you what is happening.

Yes, but it's unnecessary as it's already connected to the router by cable. It does not provide WiFi for your devices to connect to. That what the router still does even when the BB is down. The Hybrid Connect is just acting as a modem to the mobile signal & passing it on to the router in lieu of a live BB signal.

OK Might be better if I explain my problem . About 25% of my planned
programme recordings fail to record . This is on my EE pro box . The box
tells me it's a router problem and when it tells me that it fails to record
anything . But everything else in my household works fine ,smart tv ,Xbox,
and phones and tablets all say no problem . I have to switch the router on
and off to see if it solves the problem ,it doesn't. However switching the
hybrid connect off does have an effect . Currently hybrid connect is
switched off and I have recording ability . Questio is hybrid connect
interfering with the recording box .

Hey there @andyuk51, welcome to the EE Community 😊

The Smart Hybrid connect is only designed to kick in if your broadband signal goes down, but you don't need to have this permanently connected via ethernet after initial setup.

I've not known this cause any interference with EE TV though, how often would you say this is happening, and have you noticed any drop outs at all since disabling the Smart Hybrid Connect?
Peter

This has happened 3 or 4 times so far this year ( only had it since august
) but it's only been a couple of days since I disconnected it . So far it's
OK but it's early days .

Thanks @andyuk51, how is it that your Smart Hybrid Connect is usually set up, and what do the lights show?

If it's wirelessly you have this connected, how far from your Hub is this positioned?

Peter

Sorry for the delay but my answer was not forwarded , don't know why . Its connected by an ethernet cable to the router and aprox 2' away and usually has 1 to 2 lights showing.  Cheers
