Hi all,
Saw a member on here post his TP Link router speeds with the 1.6 bundle.
Does anyone know if the Smart WiFi Plus boxes work with this/other router(s)?
I’m a bit of a novice re: broadband/wifi but keen to learn how to maximise my 1.6 bundle.
My Hub had to be placed at my doorway and is causing me to get only 400mb in my living room with a Smart Plus box at the halfway mark. Looking to learn any solutions if possible.
Thanks for any help.

@29CC you’ll probably find they are only compatible with the EE smart hub plus as that’s what they are designed to work with. They are not WiFi repeaters they create a mesh network within the home.

@29CC The hub, is connected by an ethernet cable and were the ONT gets placed then most times that is were the router/hub gets put, the cable can be replaced and router/hub moved to were ever you think centrally is best, but it is up to you as the customer to do it now that you have it all installed. Smart wi-fi devices can help and if not wired back to the router/hub then never expect full speed. Your 400mb/s is not bad for a wireless connection especially if you are hitting the mesh. HTH

Thanks!
I guess I am just looking for other options to improve the speed if they are available.
I should have noted - I got 400mb in my living room prior to my Smart Plus extender being paired - so it hasn’t actually improved anything. Not sure if that is saying it can’t be boosted or if I’ve done something wrong!

@29CC Wi-fi speed test is only good if you can disconnect all other wireless devices, not always possible to do that, but stand 2' away from the router, do speed test and that is probably as good as it gets...

Yeah pretty much what I was wondering
400mb with all devices except my iPhone turned off. (Doing the test on my iPhone)
Standing directly next to my router I get 900 - pretty much what stemmed my question was seeing @timprocter get max speeds on his iPhone.
Indicated to me that his TP Link router was a worthwhile purchase so was curious about WiFi extenders working with it.
Thanks though

@29CC The Tp-Link B550 i think its called, does seem to be the favoured for speed etc, forget the EE Smart Wi-FI plus they will not work with anything apart from the EE Smarthub+ router. Read the link, heavy reading but will give you some idea. My android A54 shows connected speed to router at 1700mb/s but you can forget that as soon as you try to do anything its all smoke and mirrors, device is just not good enough no matter what anyone says. 400mb/s is good, but understand you do wish to push it to the limit.

@29CC Have you tried, 2 phones together, both trying to do speed test at identical time, to see what the result is, both getting 800 each then you would be up there. Further away, slower it gets, and try the extender off in case its messing with the router during your test....
