Changed broadband package, but do I need new EE router?

I changed my EE full fibre broadband package to a cheaper slower speed, but EE have sent me a new router and I am wondering if I have to use it because I then have to change all WIFI passwords on my equipment. Why can't I just use the old router and send back the new one ?

@Ma133a   no reason why you could not do that.

Which router do you have now, and which one are they sending you?

Some of the new routers are able to just use your old WiFi settings, well all can do that, but some do it for you via the app.

But if your current router is not too old and it works for you and you are happy, why not stick with it. But do give Customer services a call if they are wanting the old router back, just so they know and you don't get charged for it, and do keep the proof of posting - just to be sure.

I have an EE Smart Hub Plus with WiFi 6, not sure what they are sending me.

Was told by an EE guide that I have to use the new router but when I asked before I was told I could just send the new one back.

@Ma133a  that seems odd, what package have you now and what are you changing to?

Probably just one of them computer says do it that way!!

@Ma133a  OK, so the same router should work fine.
