Broadband set-up appointment & change of payment details

I have rented a house without wifi in uk through a friend and now I hope to subscribe an EE broadband plan. The problem is I am currently abroad and will arrive in uk on 10th september, before then no one is in the house. As I can tell from the forum that to set up a broadband, there will be a router sent to the address and then an engineer will pay a vist to install the wifi properly. Now I wonder will I get to choose the time for the router and the engineer to come after 10th september if I subscribe now? will there be an option for appointment time for me to choose?

Second question: I currently have an uk barclays debit card(student addition). But this card will expire in 3 months and I will have to apply for a new one. can I pay my broadband with my current card now and later change payment details? If possible, is it complicate to do?

Thank you for your help in advance. Have a nice day!

It will take at least 2 weeks from order before BB is installed. If there's already a BT landline there even if not active an eng. will probably not need to visit it.

You will be able to change your payment method thro' your MyEE for BB a/c. It would probably suit you better to start with setting up a Direct Debit on your Barclays Bank a/c rather than a debit card which is going to change soon.

Thank you for your reply Sir, I feel much more comfortable now.

Just to be sure, If I subscribe now, the router will not be deliverd to my place before I get there, is that correct?

It's usually sent by Royal Mail to arrive a day or 2 before install.

Just to add to what @XRaySpeX  has said you don't need to be in for the router to be delivered. It is designded to fit through a standard letter box.

Thank you sir, that information is also very helpful!
