Best mid-range router recommendation for FTTP 500?

Hi there

Finally getting FTTP installed this Thursday!!! Will be the 500 package.

Any recommendation for a mid range router to use instead of the smart hub?

I'm thinking TP Link AX1500 but given there's so much to choose from I literally don't know. I know it needs to have a 1gbps WAN port to connect direct to the ONT.

Thinking of getting WiFi 6 then upgrading the PC and laptop WiFi cards Intel AX210s. Didn't want a top top router as need to accommodate for those WiFi card expenses.

I did also think Eero mesh but they'll be no good if they aren't hardwired.

All I need is a compatible router that'll do the job near enough up to max speed for now, as hopefully in the future going to get Unifi and access points hardwired. Phone line doesn't matter. Don't have one.

Recommendations appreciated.

Thanks.

Practicably any router-only will work with FTTP. In Home Broadband settings you'll find everything you need to set up your own router.

Good to go? this is practically the cheapest WiFi 6 router I can find that's somewhat reliable of a brand.

Great. Thank you!

Just checking, you mention VLAN ID = 101 for setting up FTTP. Is this not the case anymore? I'm assuming the section titled Can I use my own router with EE broadband? applies to me?

I often do but not in my reply to you. VLAN ID = 101 is only applicable to the modem. Here the ONT is the modem & will take care of it.
