Banded FTTC

Hi!

How can I tell EE to reset the cabinet end of my line? I just changed from plusnet to EE, so same technology, same cabinet end. I used to get up to 35Mbps in this line with plusnet and EE offered the same 36Mpbs with a warranted speed of 20 (I cant wait for FTTP or Virgin to get to this road, these speeds are prehistoric...).

My own modem tells me that the line can do more but it is banded to 27Mbps.

I guess he was trying to say that 27.4 Meg is well above the guaranteed speed of 20 Meg & thus requires no action by EE.

Locate the hidden test socket that is revealed when you remove the bottom half of the split faceplate (2 screws or press tabs) of your master socket. Only do this if you have a split faceplate. Do you have any extension sockets in the home even if unused? Are there any wires connected to back of faceplate of master socket?

Only if you have an active landline, try the BT Quiet Line Test (QLT), dial 17070 Opt 2, preferably with a corded phone, in the test socket with the router disconnected. If there is any noise, report it to your landline provider as a voice fault (don't mention Broadband). Often sorting out voice faults will fix the Broadband as well.

Reboot the router & plug it into the test socket using a DSL dangly micro-filter. Post the full router stats & System Uptime when plugged into test socket.

Is the issue any better?

Thanks for your answer. Yeahh I understand, the 20mb are met, so no need to do more.

No, that is the only plate, directly from the street to a master socket installed by openreach 6 months ago. The line from outside is old but it only goes there, no other terminals in the house. I guess Ill have to wait to see if the banding gets removed by itself... Or just wait for FTTP if thhat ever happens.

Thanks!

@Harland84   when you transferred from PN teh line would have normally have had a DLM reset.

Have you tried with another router, if you have a EE or BT VDSL router post the equivalent page so we can see any differences.

Unlike PN, no one on here can arrange a DLM reset, and as already mentioned unlikely to do so unless you are able to convince CS to do so, talk nicely and off virtual cuppa's and choccy biscuits.

What do you mean by "only plate"? A master socket fitted only 6 months ago should have a removeable faceplate. Show us a pix.

Are you able to do any of my tests from the test socket?

@XRaySpeX yeah it can be removed, I meant it is the only one in the house. Master socket 5C with a MK4 plate. Ill try your suggestion this eve with the filter provided by EE.

@Mustrum I hhave the EE one, it had the same results. Ill plug it this evening and come back here to see if it changes this time.

I dont use the EE one because it cant be set as bridge mode to feed my own Asus Mesh router. So I got a vigor 130 second hand on Ebay.  It was working fine with Plusnet. I know it is not a big deal, 27.. .34... but in the evenings when everyone is streaming stuff, it gets a bit tight!

Cheers.

Thanks, I look forward to that.

Yes, with 22 dB Down Attenuation you should be getting about 35 Meg on FTTC.

Good morning,

I didnt have time this weekend to do any of the suggested test, but the line looks like it is getting better by itself (DLM update? Reset?) ! I still will try removing the plate to see any difference, but I doubt it.
