BT to EE Broadband set up

Hello, I am totally confused having just turned off my BT hub and turned on my EE hub as ALL of my internet connections is still showing as being connected to the BT hub (which has no power to it nor any connection), and when I told my laptop to forget the BT log in, it still only found that hub to connect to and I had to use the password for that hub to connect.

Is this what is supposed to happen as I will now have to keep that hub to access anything.  Surely that cannot be right?

They can't be connecting to the BT router as it is switched off. They are now connecting to the EE router.

Your BT router WiFi settings have been transferred to the EE SH+ when you used the EE app to connect to it.

Thank you, that makes sense, but it is just a bit confusing as not explained in the how to bit of the paperwork.  I thought I had done something wrong!

Thanks! You're welcome 🙂 ! Glad I could be of assistance & trust it is now sorted.

@LadyPenrose  When you setup the hub via the app your given the option to migrate the SSID and password over to the new EE hub,  you did exactly just that you are even given the option to not do this.   It’s not in the paperwork as it’s all  on the app when you set this up.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

@LadyPenrose   a word of caution - whilst it as easy to use the old SSID  and all your devices just carry on working, when you come to add a new device you will need theold passoed and of course not the one on the card on the new router. Add in that BT will no doubt want the old router back which of course has the SSID password on it.

So it is a good idea to keep hold of the details/password from the old SSID.

Of course it's safer to have your own secret SSID + WiFi pwd & admin pwd so that anybody getting up close & personal to your router can't mess about with it 😉.

Hi, we have the same issue having set up EE yesterday to take over from BT.

Is there a way we can change our Wi-Fi back to EE showing as we still need the old BT password to connect any new devices.

@StephenRyan   If you do a factory reset - find the pin hole on the back of the router and using a cocktail stick or similar press and hold the button until the lights change - 30 secs - it will revert everything, then do not use the option to migrate devices.

It will mean you need to set up each device to connect to the new EE Router ID.
