BT broadband to EE 1.6gbps

What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however  to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me  so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

@Bluenose_Dave

Had a text today stating the engineer will be activating mine on Monday 5th January.

Hoping this is a typo because Monday is the 15th January, more blunders. 🙄

Wish me luck and the very same to you mate.😁

Openreach has informed us that the pilot is going to plan and they just need to finish testing the full range of order types across different geographies in the UK. “We hope to complete our testing soon and proceed to full launch thereafter,” added the operator. Via ispreview.co.uk

Hey Michael

I assume you have your ASUS Router connected to the ONT, what model ASUS? I am using the EE Smarthub 3 and EE support have confirmed that it will not achieve 1.6 and that I am lucky to get 957.32 mbps, they say that an upgrade will eventually be released to resolve this but can not say when.

Thanks

@skybat  Got my 1.6Gb line connected yesterday although not without issues.

I am using a third party Asus AXE16000 router (top tier) and although the speed is better than my previous BT 90/110 package but not by much.

Everything was checked at Openreach HQ and was told my line is perfect with no faults, they tested it twice and came back stating my line was good for 1.8Gb and also did a further "Light Test" reading 21 really good.

Turns out the fault lies with the EE Network so now waiting for them to sort it out.

These are what I average over WiFi 6e below, Ethernet is even slower which doesn't make sense as my PC is fully upgraded to 2.5Gb at every point.

Disappointing to read about another with the 1.6gbs but not getting near the speeds,Tim i hope they able to find where the issue is,

I  think EE should be giving out discounts for people not getting the speeds they should, and the fact the service is still been trialed untill end of Feb  it clear to see from reading this thread that the service is not working or not working at the speeds it should be

Absolutely spot on.👍

EE are you listening.?🙄

Is there a moderator who can give us any more clue's as to what is happening with this top tier package.

£69:99 a month for a product that at this moment is not work as it should.

Either reduce the monthly fee or sort it out. The silence is deafening.😑
