What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

Mate do a quick test via a PPPoE connection, Cut out the router / mesh system and you will 99% see 1.6Gb getting through to your computer.
I made the mistake of complaining when I was already getting top speeds, it was my (very expensive router) that couldn't pass through that sort of speed.
Good luck mate and glad you are getting sorted.

I have not complained on speeds they updated me last night it was not at full speed, and now it should be openreach popping in to to confirm that 1.6gbs getting to ONT, i guess they being 100% sure as the level of complain team overseeing it
currently not got any thing i would be able to test speeds as i dont have any 2.5 Ethernet, but im sure i be getting what I should to the ONT after the visit, and it will finally been order completed,
Next it making sure my compo, is at the higher rate, as be looking at about 6 months free, as when I ordered was 3 months free what will have to be honoured and how ever much credit I get from all the issues and no service, i still believe if i had not emailed i would still be waiting for it to get resolved

Well to do the final update after 6 longs week the order has been complete,
openreach engineer came to check the 1.6gb was up and running, but we run into a big roadblock with lan testing as his laptop has only a 1gb Ethernet port,so this also ruled out direct to the ONT, on a WiFi test using the EE smart router it was 980 so this sort of confirmed it was no longer on a 900 plan,
Plus they can see from there end the speeds, and i have heard back from executive complains that all system are running fine and as expected now,i did say about openreach laptops only having 1gb Ethernet meaning he could not get the speeds to the ONT
i will get a thunberbolt 3 to 2.5g Ethernet so i can use my iPad to connect to the ONT to confirm the speeds.
Once i get the squares from openreach i see how the WiFi speeds are, as I used to have the BT disc wired in but now with speeds over the limits of the Ethernet i will see how well the mesh and what sort of speeds that gives
and thanks to all the people who advised and been involved in this long drawn out upgrade,
and like most have said 1.6gb has been rushed out and the EE smart hub, limiting what can be done with the raw speed that 1.6gb brings, i wonder will there be any complaint about this to ofcom,as it would be very interesting to see the out come , very smart wording “busyest household”

I can confirm every word is true, I bought it's bigger brother the BE19000 and can confirm it compliments the 1.6Gb package perfectly.😎
EE HQ have my details and after several tests from mine they are changing the advertisement to suit the 1.6Gb Busiest Home Bundle package.

I have an anker usb c to 2.5gb Ethernet so i can do a speed test via the ONT, it is due sometime tomorrow
i was told again i should not of been allowed to move with 18months left on my 2 year bt contract, that was in a right state as it was never booked as a migration at the point of ordering, it was as a new order, so that caused the first of many issues. I was also told about £400 plus exit fees from my BT contract, but thankfully that has all been wiped clear, and i am no longer in anyway on BT and fully 2 feet in with EE now
EE reporting a speed of 1620mb/s now to my ONT. things seem to be fine so far,

Would an iPad support PPPoE over USB?

You won’t be able to do a direct PPPoE connection from your iPad. If you’re looking to do a direct to ONT connection without a router in between then you’ll need to do it on a Mac or a PC.

I got an old hp envy, if i can find a usb c to usb 3 converter to do it on that just make a new Ethernet connect with the standard bt username something like bthomehub@btbroadband.com no password
my daughter away she has a M1 MacBook Air what is more modern
