BT broadband full WiFi transfer to EE 1.6gbps

BT broadband to EE 1.6gbps

What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however  to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me  so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

Congrats - at least you’re back online now!
It really shouldn’t take complaining in the way that you did to get a fault fixed but at least it’s sorted now.

Since replacing my router with the Linksys I’ve not had any dropouts or speed issues, fingers cross it continues!

They’re said this to me, even said it would be an automatic upgrade when it’s available.

full works is essentially Halo 3, assuming you’re after the ‘busiest home’ in which case they can offer it they just need to check their system.

@Bluenose_Dave

At long last mate, as quoted you have waited and been messed around for far too long.

Please remember getting full speed depends on quite a lot of variables starting at the ONT right through to your device whatever that may be and whatever router / mesh system you use.

Fact is you should have 1.6Gb at the ONT.

550mbps is pretty good depending how far away and just whatever hardware the device has in it.

Congrats Dave.😀

Thanks Tim it been a long old slog but i got there, i be having disc sent out to me so that will improve the WiFi speeds i get via the EE smart hub,

i am making changes to the lan in my house, and upgrading it to cat 8, as extra shielding on the cable just to prevent any interference like from electrical items, so i know the lan is as good as it can be,

yes speeds affected by every part of the route , but for now i am happy to be back on line, son will be happy to as h can now be back on line on his Xbox

next week i be doing more speed tests i would do direct to my lap top but it has no Ethernet port as they so slim now laptops, i have a usb3 to Ethernet, but speeds never been good via that so dont think it will gib a true reading. Once EE stuff becomes live i see what the speed test says

I got an Anker USB C to 2.5gb adapter for my Mac. It was about £20 I think and I can confirm I do get a full 2.5gbps transfer speed to other local devices on the network. Definitely worth looking into if you really want to get the most out of your connection.

Hoping that between my router having an SFP+ WAN port with a 10GbE RJ45 Transceiver, a 10gbps connection between the main switches through the house and 2.5GbE to most wired clients that eventually when I can start my upgrade to the 1.6gbps service, I'll get every last kbps that I can squeeze from that connection and hopefully maybe even more if they're over-provisioning these lines. (Fingers crossed they are 🤞🏼)

The back office was still doing work at 4 on the connection, i was losing 2 db from outside to the Ont with the old fibre line and before they  change of the internal fibre they could not see the ONT so kink did causes a good issue. The order has not been closed so i guess that will be tomorrow

So I have a new development and not a good one....

So I called EE this evening to try and get some sort of update because i'm almost at that 2 week mark of the 'cooling off period' after the migration from EE and don't want to be stuck on this full works super expensive 900mbps plan if they're not going to upgrade me straight away to the faster plan that I switched from BT to EE for and was told that I was able to switch to immediately after switching.

Anyway speaking to someone, wait on hold for ages while they speak to 'new EE' for an update again and they are now saying they can not upgrade me because i'm an existing EE customer. Even he said that it sounded super backwards and that the information I was given on the migration was wrong.

The reason being is that to get to the 1.6gbps plan you supposedly need a whole new EE account and that they have to cancel your existing one and place a new order from scratch. Doing that would leave me for approximately one month with no internet while they wait for the account to completely cancel and after that I would have to re-order and wait for activation. Obviously that's not a possibility and not something I can really wait for.

So now i'm on this £68.99 plan that on their website is showing as £57 instead of the previous £60 plan I was on with BT with no extra speed or benefit to me.

To say i'm frustrated is an absolute understatement and this product absolutely should not have been launched in it's current state with the lack of training or internal system stability that should have been in place before they ever even publicly said the words 'new EE' or '1.6gbps'.

So a bit more on my situation yesterday it was only 900/115, as executive complains updated me last night, so have contacted the maker of the ONT for a solution, the openreach from yesterday has called to say full speeds are now active, and he popping in just to check the speeds at the ONT, so very close now, once order is closed EE will send me another square,(EE WiFi repeaters)
