BT broadband to EE 1.6gbps

What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however  to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me  so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

Hey, yes and you are correct about the Samsung Ultra the latest has WiFi 7, I have one of the earlier models (Oct 2023), mine is on 6E, it is a great bit of kit & the EVO processor is fantastic, I also have a Lenovo Thinkpad P17 Gen 1 Intel Xeon W-10885M.

No reason for WiFi 7 it was the spec of the router which has 2x 10Gb WAN & 4x 2.5Gb LAN plos USB that will run 2.5Gb with an adapter to USB-C also I had my new UK house hard wired with Cat 8 40 Gbps cable no particular reason other than it is future proof and we have a number of Sky Glass TV's ethernet connected.  WiFi is only used for WiFi calling on our iPhones I  run them both laptops linked to a  32" Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 LS32BG752NNXGO 3840x2160 165Hz monitor.

I hope that answers your and any other post questions.

Incidentally my changeover from BT900  to EE 1.6Gb was a bit of a **bleep**-up primarily because someone pressed the wrong button in Nov 2023 and it could not be undone; accidents happen, it was eventually resolved, apart from the speed issue, 3 Jan 2024. No one died!  and let those who have not suffered the bowel-loosening sensation of accidentally clicking the wrong button cast the first stone!

Update on my situation i had 2 call from EE, they sent 2 emails to escalation team at openreach, they finally got back to EE light and routing issues and a specialist Openreach engineer will be sent out to finally get it sorted, will this be a false dawn or not. And good EE person said they taking ownership of this issue and so far he been true to his word with updating me

Openreach email said sorry a fair few times. It has a person at openreach escalations dealing with it a case handler

Mate you have no idea how happy I am for you, finally getting there it certainly looks like.😀

I honestly think getting hold of someone who actually cares helps a lot instead the the "others" reading from a script and can't wait to put the phone down.😐

Good luck with that Dave, fingers crossed for you.🤞

If they fill out the promise they made to me my line should be fully working at full speed by midnight tomorrow night.

Time will tell.🙄

Thanks Tim

Once again i hope we both have some good news with our connection, i hope tail end of the week will bring and end to this

yes the amount of times i have called EE over the last month i fully agree some seem more concerned that others there, some think we the end users have no IT knowledge where I know we all done

@Bluenose_Dave

Emma from EE at Newcastle has just rung me and had a  lengthy chat, she says the full 1.6Gb is arriving at my premises which doesn't make sense as I am not getting it through the supplied EE router or through my own Asus GT-AXE11000 router on any device I own.

We had a further discussion and she admitted the 1.6Gb package is a "Trial package" to which I replied why are they selling it without it being fully tested first.

She agreed and has passed it on to a specialist team who are dealing with this new package.

Shall we say "Work still in Progress"😂😂😂

Now I am totally confused and my head is messed up.😜

Still only achieving around 600 - 900mbps through the supplied EE Smart hub plus and my Asus Rapture AXE11000 router and many more configurations I decided to try setup a direct PPPoE connection direct from the ONT to my computer (Windows 11) and literally just fallen off my chair. 😱

I have all the latest hardware and different devices to test this connection on and nothing gets near these speeds.

Where do I go from here. CONFUSED.COM 🤔
