What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

Still no-where near the minimum speed promised mate.

Absolutely agree, that's what I was getting on the old 900mb package. Below the minimum guaranteed speed for Openreach to come back and investigate, Great low ping rate though.
What did amuse me is that EE sells this product but supply a router with gigabit lan ports. I realise that most devices will also just have a gigabit ethernet port, but why not future proof their kit. It's going to lead to so many complaints.
I did find a slight performance improvement using cat 8 ethernet cables than my old cables thought I would future proof my setup, but Im guessing you would be using all you own kit anyway as you have the Rapure GT
Hope you get it sorted mate.

I spoke with next gen team, and sent them over pictures of the kink, they contacted openreach to tell them about it and to get a openreach to check it as EE person thinks the same that it is causing my issues, wait now to see what openreach does, I fully expect a house call next week from openreach

I think the fact there is only 1gb ports is partly down to openreach, as they to take things slowly, also the bt smart hub 2 was referred to as 3.0 the new EE hub is classed 3.1, EE if rumours are correct are working on a WiFi 7 router with chip maker Qualcomm on this https://newsroom.ee.co.uk/ee-partners-with-qualcomm-on-wi-fi-7-next-gen-home-broadband-technology-fo... This router is due out 2024 im guessing towards the end of the year, and i would expect at least one2.5gb Ethernet port as well as a 2.5gb WAN port,

Thanks for that, I spoke with EE/BT again they were very helpful and confirmed no chance of achieving 1.6Gb with the supplied Router though they did say an upgrade is planned, when?? They have confirmed that I am getting 1.8Gb 'ish to my ONT. So I bought a TP-Link Tri-Band BE9300 WiFi 7 Router Archer BE550 that has 10Gb WAN & 4x 2.5Gb LAN I will post the speeds when it is up and running, hopefully by the end of this month. I also have a very high spec PC, so we will see!
They gave me the link for third party setup, here it is if anyone wants it: 3rd PARTY SETUP LINK

Do you have any WiFi 7 devices or does your computer currently support it? The only one I’ll have is the Samsung S24 Ultra when it’s delivered next week. WiFi 7 is so new, it was only just certified and it’ll take a long while for it to become the standard.
For me not worth the cost, 6E has been about for a bit, is expensive and isn’t widely supported (especially in lower end machines). My MacBook Pro supports it but the frequency penetration is so poor WiFi 6 ends being better around my house.
EE have said they want to be the first ISP to release a WiFi 7 router but that will take time. Not sure if existing EE customers will be automatically upgraded to a new router. They’ve already got us tied into a contract so they don’t need to try. I think that it’s likely only to be offered to new or upgrading customers when it eventually becomes available.
They sold Fibre 900 knowing that the Smart Hub 2 didn’t support it so it’s not like they don’t have form for selling a service their hardware didn’t support. They’ve kinda wriggled out of BT customers calling for the new Smart Hub 3 router by getting customers to ‘migrate’ from BT to EE thus having to re-contract.

Out of interest where did you purchase the TP-Link BE9300 as I didn't think they were available yet.

Pretty sure you can order it from Amazon US and they’ll ship it to the UK.
I’ve ordered things from there before, iirc I was charged in dollars.

Yes I see it's for sale in the US but was thinking it might have arrived in the UK by now.😉
What is the difference between the BE550 and the BE800, I can see the BE800 has 2x 2.5Gb WAN ports where as the BE550 has just one.
