What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Time someone at EE had their **bleep** kicked Dave.
Is this how a company as big as EE treat paying customers.
Shoot an email to the CEO mate, tell him the whole story and get things moving.

Hi @Bluenose_Dave I'm really sorry about the delay in getting your broadband activated. I'll send you a private message so you can get in touch with your order details and we'll be happy to chase this up.
Thanks
Neil

I have just had a chat with Robbie from EE part of the team that PM`ed me, i am asured it is been took very seriously and mangers are talking to managers etc, i due an update tomorrow, and they agree that what could go wrong has gone wrong with my upgrade, so reassuring to hear EE and Openreach both want it sorted out as soon as possible as it been way to long and they agreed, and it could be classed as loss of service. With regards to the compo what is around £9 a day and not the failed to activate what is £5.88 a day

It is also good as someone from EE support team has seen the pictures of the kink now so they know how that is now,as they read this thread

I hope they are looking at users getting what they are paying for while they are at it.
My 1.6Gb internet is no faster than my previous BT 900/110 package I was was using.
Made a phone call to EE today and got an engineer coming out on Saturday morning hoping to resolve this.
I won't hold my breath.🙄
All in all I am very disappointed with this package and without it gets fixed I won't be happy. 😣

OR’s second visit to my house today.
The guy reiterated that there’s been loads of problems with these connections. Allegedly there’s only around 500 and roughly 490 of them are with EE. He actually asked me why I was bothering, if the old connection was OK why not just be happy with 900Mbps (fair point at this stage!).
He’s swapped my ONT for a new one which seems to be holding up well at the moment but I have been here before with it working and then suddenly dying.
Currently getting 1441Mbps down and 118Mbps up.
The EE app and functionality is utter trash, the below and the something went wrong page is all I seem to get.

This was taken 5 minutes ago, I don't call this 1.6Gb do you.🤢
Just a full 1Gb short of what it should be.

Sounding like once i am finally on line the real fun starts with it all, i went for it as was only an extra £10 for it as was not the same price what bt was, going to EE so i thought double the speed for the extra 10 why not…..

I don't rely much on the onboard speed tester of the ASUS, I've got mixed results as you can see. I went out and got a 2.5g ethernet to usb-c and ran tests from https://speedtest.samknows.com/ and achieved just over 1,6gb , fast.com is not that reliable and gave me mixed results. Whilst we will never see wifi speeds maxed just now, I know my line can handle multiple simultaneous fast connections.
