Am I subject to a 60minute rule when talking on the landline?

Hi there.

I have an unlimited minutes contract for landline and mobile calls on my landline phone and also 1000 minutes for 0845 and 0870 numbers. Am I subject to the 60 minute rule where you have to hang up and ring again? I ask because I spent longer than that contacting EE! It would seem grossly unfair If that was the case! Hope somebody can put my mind at rest. Many thanks.

Thanks for your help. I'm on the latter (Digital voice, phone plugs into the back of the router). I agree that all the blurb on the EE website/terms and conditions is very ambiguous and I tend to believe that the 1000 minute fair use policy refers to 0845/0870 numbers but when you are told that, no, this refers to all numbers, it makes you a bit wary of testing this with the penalty being extra charges! The lady at EE said that to surpass the 1000 minute limit would entail me being on the phone all the time which is not the case. Divide by 31 days comes to just over 32 minutes per day which is not a lot. I obviously have my mobile to use but it's the principle that's the issue for me! I also think that a lot of EE staff are BT trained and are perhaps confusing previous rules and practices. It's also strange that you get different answers to the same question every time you ring up! Thanks again for taking the trouble to read my posts and replying. Much appreciated.

I've just spoken to Simon on the EE support telephone and he has told me that it is unlimited, that there is no 60 minute cap, you can talks as long as you like as long as you've got enough battery in your phone!!

I guess we'll find out when HMRC next keeps us on the phone for over an hour 🙄
