2 x EE Home Phone Adapters, neither contect to hub.

I need to connect my landline to my Smart 2 BT Hub after the move to EE. I could not use a cable without drilling holes in the walls and I don't think the wife would be too happy with that anyway. So plan B, use an EE adapter. I plugged it in for a few minutes then followed the instructions supplied, the adapter had no light colour showing.

I then pressed the WP button on the Hub then the button on the adapter and counted out 6 seconds, the adapter light showed orange and continued to flash orange long after the blue light had stopped flashing on the Hub. I then unplugged the adapter and stated again, leaving the adapter unplugged between attempts with same result. After around 2 hours I gave up and contacted EE and we went through it again at the end of which, no connection.

EE said they would send another adapter, this arrived this morning and this one still did not connect.

I have had the BTHub for years and have never had a problem connecting to the hub. I have not to my knowledge ever set up the Hub with a password. Is there a way to check if the Hub does have a password?

EE suggested I 'reset' the Hub, however I assume I would need to re-enter anything that is at present working correctly.

I will have to dig out the Hub guide that came it to see if there is any thing I have missed. ANY help you can offer would be appreciated by this very much non tech OAP!!

Sorted, thank you for your help. I phoned 150 and after some explanations got through to someone who knew what he was doing. After a number of checks & ??'s said he thought it was the Hub that could be the problem. He remotely shut down my Hub and rebooted it without losing any of my already connected  devices. I then reconnected the adapter and phone line.   😀 👍.

I can only say I was very impressed with the EE Customer Service and for me that is praise indeed.

@ajw1100 Below at least what the adapter lights are. And take it you are on a digital phone service with the phone connected to the back off the router and working that way! Do NOT do any off the reset's unless you have a backup off everything on that HUB, pain follows when you do not...

What your Digital Voice
Adapter light means
1 On initial plug in – flashes 0.5 seconds on,
2 seconds off
2 During registration – flashes quickly
0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off
3 Once registered – stays solid green
4 During a call – flashes slowly 1 second on,
1 second off
5 Once registered, if there’s a connection
problem with your broadband – flashes
0.5 seconds on and 2 seconds off.
Maximum Digital
Voice devices
You can register a maximum of 5 Digital Voice
devices (that includes Digital Voice Handsets
or Digital Voice Adapters) to your new Hub at
one time

Thank you, but if I am unable to compete the registration- the adapter continually flashing orange I am unable to proceed further.

@ajw1100 Do you have the BT Smarthub2, do you also have currently digital voice, the landline phone plugs into the back of that smarthub2 router and it works?

If your landline plugs into a BT/OR Master Phone socket and is working that way, then the Adapters DO NOT work!
