I need to purchase a new sim card for a new phone, as the old phone only uses the larger sim card and won't fit in a new phone. If I stop pack straight away before I use it for calls or txts will the phone go to PAYG and leave me with the credit on the phone from having bought the pack?

Why bother getting a new SIM for a new phone? You just need a replacement SIM on the existing no.
Order a replacement SIM online with the same no., plan & if applicable, credit at Order a replacement SIM for £1.50. Otherwise phone CS for one. It will come as a Combi-SIM with all 3 sizes as push-outs.
