Can someone kindly explain why EE give you a (what looks like) mobile phone number associated with your account, even though the only device you're using with them , or have ever used is the MINI yellow and black wifi...? I can see that form the app i can text on it, how does it work? could i attatch it to a handset, and use my WIFI data allowance, or do I still need a monthly plan. Or I could use it just for wi-fi calling? Before I experiment or add up charges, Id liek to be clear. Cant figure it out anywhere online... Thnaks!

The mobile router has a SIM and every SIM has a mobile number to connect to the mobile network.
You may text from your mobile router. Look for the SMS section.
