This site is too confusing for us oldies. We both have doro 612 mobiles using the old pay as you go - just topping up as and when we want to add to it. Why can't I find anything about the charges for this?
I need a new doro as my clamshell has come apart but don't know if I can just use the same sim card and stay with EE. I can't get calls on it although it does ring!
I can't find one similar on their shop site online so I doubt the EE shop I go to will have one either. We only make calls and send texts - that is all we want!
It has driven me to distraction trying to find out what I want to know on this site.

Doro 6620 looks like your best bet as it is a clamshell type phone. Get it from Amazon

Your existing sim may not fit as there are three sizes of SIM card currently, if it doesn’t fit take the phone to an EE shop and they will give you the right sim (you may need to are ID along) and you may need to book an appointment due to Covid.

@oap1930-s : All EE PAYG SIMs come primed with a recurring Pack of allowances ready to bought out of your PAYG credit as soon as it is sufficient.
Text STOP PACK to 150 before you next top-up & you can use the SIM for calls & texts but not data as normal PAYG at standard per-unit rates paid for out of your standing PAYG credit balance.
You'll find the standard charges set out in Pay as you go PLAN PRICE GUIDE
To save the SIM going into hibernation due to lack of use, just remember within every 179 days (~ 6 months) to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from any Pack or Add-on you might have.

Hi there @oap1930-s
Thanks for coming to the community 🙂
I can see you have had some great advice already, if you do purchase a phone elsewhere and need a different size SIM card you can order a replacement SIM within your My EE with the same number.
If you would like to make an appointment for an EE store, you can find details in our Store Finder.
Please let us know if you have any further questions 🙂
Leanne.

I had £30+ still on my (broken) mobile - I assume this is registered on my Sim card so if my Sim card is changed to a different size what happens to the outstanding credit I paid for?
I don't use £10 per month so do not want that type of account! We use a landline all the time as we prefer that way of communicating.
I want to continue with the arrangement I had with 'orange' before EE took me over - which I have had with EE ever since then - that is when the credit in my mobile runs low I top up the amount I want to add when I want to add it. No pack every month.
However, I want to know what I am paying for texts and calls per minute as I am unable to find that info anywhere on the EE site. It quotes charges but always for various 'packs'.

It is not on your SIM card but on your account, changing SIM card doesn’t affect the £30. Like getting a new bank card doesn’t mean you lose your bank balance.

When you get a replacement SIM the way @Leanne_T told you it keeps your credit & the plan you are on.
I've already told you above how to use the SIM w/out a pack & gave you a link to the prices. the 1st page of which shows the info you are after.

Thank you - yes I have now found the charges page, You added a paragraph which completely 'threw' me and we are utterly confused as it is not easy to understand what you are getting at. You said about keep using for stuff we are not into or knowing about due to hibernation? Yes we are thick because we are not your generation. You would be thick if the subject was from our era I can assure you. Can you darn socks-sew on a button-mend nylon stockings-make gravy from scratch-make a dinner from scratch-make bread-add up in your head-do adds and minuses without a calculator etc?

You can send a text to a pal about every 5 1/2 months, can't you?
How do you know I'm not of your era ? 😉
