How do I access the Huawei b629 dns server settings?
Thanks in advance

If that's a mobile phone it's unlikely to be able to alter the DNS.

Hi XraySpeX
Thanks for the speedy reply. Sorry I made a mistake. Ive just checked the model number and its actually a Huawei B625-261.
Im having problems with my home network - especially with my Qnap NAS as the Huawei B625-261 issues it with an ip and subnet that stop the NAS from joining the network even touugh I have configured the dns server settings on the nas to be the same ip address as the router. I figured that I would be better using another device on my network as a DNS server instead and wondered if I could disable the router as dns server.
Thanks again

The router issues your NAS with a private local IP. No DNS is employed looking up IPs.
However if you persist in going down the DNS route if you are able to set the DNS in the NAS you can set it to whatever you want.

Hi Ive tried this and after doing so, the NAS is unreachable on my home network. When I log in to the router and check the list of online devices its not there. All the devices listed have an ip address of 192.168.8.xxx with a subnet of 255.255.255 yet the router assigns a local ip of 169.254 8.xx with a subnet of 255.255.0. When I manually assign an ip of 192.168.8.x, 255.255.255 it is not accessible on the network/internet. Everything worked fine with my homehub4. Its most frustrating!
thanks
Michael

The router ISN'T assigning a local IP of 169.254 8.xx. The device is doing it to itself. It has no connection to the router.
Computers use addresses starting with "169.254." when they do not have a
manually configured address or when they are not told which address to use by a service on the network, i.e. the router's DHCP. They are commonly called the "link local" addresses.

Thanks for that. I’m obviously confusing dhcp with dns - my apologies and thanks for your help and patience
