I have a phone and personal account on ee. I have just been given a works phone, the business has an ee business account. Can I transfer my number to the works phone? How do I do that? Would this update the number on the business account automatically?  Thanks.

Hi @JoJohnson

I don't think this will be possible.

You can speak to your works' telecoms admin to see if they'd allow it, but if they do, then you have a couple of problems.

1: Porting your number to the works phone, there's no process that I'm aware of to allow this, and at the very least both phones would need to be in the same name and/or the same account.

2: Your phone needs a number attached to it, you can't just give this away 🙂

Ok , thanks. What if I cancel my personal account and then transfer the number? I get that I can't have the same number on 2 accounts, or transfer to another network and port back?

You can't just cancel an account, it doesn't work that way - if you give cancellation notice on a particular number, then it means just that, cancellation & disconnection. The number is released back to EE.

I would recommend speaking to your company's phone department initially to see if they would allow this, and how they'd want to go about it if so. If you were able to, then C/S would need to look at both accounts & numbers, and figure out the best way to make this happen. I'm still not entirely convinced it can be (easily) done.
