Where did you yourself get this device itself originally? Did you buy it yourself new direct from EE or from a 3rd-party reseller or is it 2nd-hand? The unlocking process & costs are different. Was it originally on contract or PAYG? How old is it? EE won't unlock contract devices less than 6 months old.

Hi @Maggie603

Please CLICK HERE to review the current unlocking process.

This guide will tell you everything regardless if you have bought it brand new from EE or second hand off sites like eBay or a friend.

Hi @Maggie603,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

If you purchased your phone from Carphone Warehouse, it's probably not locked to EE.

Have you tried another network SIM in your phone?

James

To unlock an EE device not bought directly from EE you need to call Customer Services on +44 800 956 6000 (option 2, option 4) to put you in touch with the Unlocking Team to request an Unlock Code. You will be asked for your email addy. They will take payment (of £8.99) from any valid UK bank card.

Once the process has been started you will receive an email from the Unlocking Team to process the unlock. It can take up to 10 days to complete the unlock.

Customer service said they don't do it anymore, it's got to done online, and my network contract with EE has finished, everything paid in full so the unlocking should be free surely?Sent from my Galaxy

@Maggie603 follow the link I gave you above.

Unlocking is a service and it doesn't have to be free.
