Unlock iPhone SE

I have just given my old iPhone SE, which was originally an EE PAYG, to my father but despite the fact that I have been on a BT sim-only deal for the last 2 years it says that it is locked. How do I unlock it? Thanks

Morning All, EE say that they don't recognise the number so state that it is not locked to them.

Are you providing the phone number that was in use when the phone was on EE?

Yes, they say they have no record of that number.

Hi James, that didn’t work either, my father has had to resort to paying £25 at a shady little shop in Bury St Edmunds. No idea why this proved to be nigh on impossible.

I spoke to James in Plymouth and he could find me but no record of my number or the IMEI

What is the exact message your Dad gets when he puts the O2 SIM card in the iPhone?
