Unlimited data and gifting

Kezar001

I had the following message….

Hi from EE: You've used 80% of the data you can gift. Don't worry, this doesn't affect your unlimited data allowance.

concerned as I thought it was unlimited data. I use my phone, ipad, firestick and pc. my wifes phone and ipad. Usually 1 or 2 of them at the same time. So certainly not 12 or more devices?

if it doesnt affect my unlimited data allowance why send you a text?

Hi,

I believe there is a limit of 100gb if you have unlimited data. It also depends when you joined. Here is the 2018 terms as an example.

Best wishes,

Tom.

@Kezar001   Your unlimited data allowance has a limited amount of data you can gift.  It’s the first 100Gb of that unlimited allowance.  You got the 80% messages because you’ve used 80% of the limited amount of data you can gift.  It doesn’t matter how you use it it’s still the first 100Gb.

Once you have used the first 100Gb of your unlimited allowance you can not gift any data until your monthly cycle starts again.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

I was told when I got the unlimited data sim 100 gig can be sent to another account, there was never any mention of a time limit I've been using this service for a few years now, this month when I went to move data I could only get 51gb so phoned ee and had a moan, my son has the unlimited data sim.for work, he had used 49gb overnight so when I tried to get my usual 100gb data I could only get half, ee were great, they have quadrupled my data on my tablet for as long as I have that account (now 80gb a month) for 12 quid a month and I still get the 100gb from the unlimited sim  as long as I get before he uses any.

So yes once the first 100GB is used none can be moved to another account.

@Kezar001 : It's only talking about data that you may potentially gift from the 1st 100GB of all your data to other nos. on your a/c if you choose to. It's just a warning just in case you wanted to. You may safely ignore it & carry on using data for your own purposes including hotspotting.

As you use data for your own use you are eating into this gifting allowance even when you are not actually gifting it.

Notice that it didn't say "You've gifted data you can gift" just that "You've used data you can gift".

@Kezar001  No that’s not gifting data.  You are using the data.

if there’s more than one device on your account you can gift some of your data allowance to that of the device on your account.
