Switching from PAYG to PAYM and keeping my SIM

Hey guys, so I want to switch from Pay as you go to a Pay monthly plan but as I am out of the country and will be for a long time so I cannot have a new SIM posted to me. Basically my question is, can I switch to a pay monthly plan and keep my old SIM and just have everything transferred? I've tried the whole 'text switch' thing and apparently I'm not elegible for the switch discount, even though I've been a consistent EE PAYG customer for around 6 years (who knows what you have to do to actually be eligible) and if I buy the plan independently I know I will have to get a SIM posted. Is there anyone here who knows if this is possible? I also can't call because I am in Canada and won't be able to call easily until I get the plan and add the Roam anywhere  add-on. I know this is specific but hope someone can help.

Hi @Mojojoejoe951

If you're using EE's "switch to pay-monthly" service that's detailed here , the FAQ under "how long does it take to switch" has the answer of "immediately".

Unless there is a problem or fault with your existing SIM, I see no reason for a replacement SIM to be necessary for this switch.

Hey, firstly thank you for a fast reply!

I tried to go through the motions on that page but then it asks me for an address for the SIM to be posted and there doesn't seem to be a way around that, maybe it will work on my old SIM but it seems like a risk to pay the money and then have them post a SIM I can't use.

Thank you again for your response

Quite often with "upgrade" phone orders, a replacement SIM is provided incase (for whatever reason) your existing SIM is unsuitable. There's no compulsion to use the replacement SIM and you are free to use your existing one if it fits & works.

I've never used the "switch to pay monthly" website in anger, so it's possible it may be covering this scenario - but I'm surmising and don't know for sure.

This may be one for the EE staff on the community to confirm.

Morning @Mojojoejoe951

Thanks for coming to the community.

Are you looking to move to a Pay monthly SIM Only plan?

Have you used your EE Pay as you go SIM card within the last 90 days?

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

Hello, yea that's exactly what I was looking at. Yeh I have the pay as you go SIM in my phone right now, I haven't actively used anything for the last month or so as I've been in Canada but have been very active before that (using data/calls etc).

Thanks for your response

Hi @Mojojoejoe951,

When you switch to pay monthly, you can continue to use your existing SIM.

You'll just need to provide your UK address for the credit check.

Hope this helps.
